final blog post

Click here to go to my character post.  This post is one of my best posts because it really explains how she changes in the start of the book.  In the post it says, "she always thought she would just end up being in the class called abnegation."  This really shows the starting feeling that she has in the book.  Later, my post says, "She went with the dauntless at the ceremony."  This is explaining that once she finally had that big decision of her lifetime, she really didnt do what her parents would want or even what she thought she had wanted just a little earlier in the book.  I think that in this post, I made this clear.  At the start, she only cared about what her family would think of her, and now she is doing what she wants to do.
My goals for the next trimester are to read a book every month, I will have a lot more time without marching band.  If my teacher doesn't make us write, I won't do it in my free time.  I'm not very good at annotating, thus I will want to get a lot better at that, even though I don't like to.  I really want to be able to write longer pieces and not get bored or completely to broad on the topics. that is something I wish to get better at.

Analysis/Divergent

I am always saying that I hate reading, but really it is just when it is a bad book. I have found out that when I love a book, I constantly read it.  with divergent I hope it has these things put into it, if it does, it will definitely get me hooked quick.  the first thing is good character development.  I hate it when a story is so great, but you know almost nothing about the character you have been reading about.  the next thing is an action scene in it somewhere. I love reading those in my head and making them sound all fast paced. I only need one of those. It reminds me of the hunger games.  One, because there are classes (districts), two there is one character that is singled out at an annual event, and three, the action all ready in the book.  I hope I am right and it is a little like hunger games. that was probably one of my favorite books of all time. there was action, great character development and overall it was a fun read.  I think Divergent will get there soon.

Divergent/Tone and Mood

"What the hell is going on?" the boy next to me shouts" (Roth 68) She had just chosen the duantless class and all of a sudden everyone is running.  This boy is freaking out because he has no idea what is happening.  Im really exited when reading this.  Its an exciting mood. This tone gives it confusion and chaos.  It made her really think about what she was doing with the dauntless.

French Revolution connection

In history class, we have been reading and learning about the French Revolution.  And I have been reading about our politics today.  Right now, we basically have no government.  They just stopped.  It sounds a little like when French king Louis XVI tried to run from the kingdom.  Also one of the things that caused the revolution was that the rich didn't have to pay taxes.  We'll guess what, America is doing the same thing. Everyone still has to pay taxes though, but the rich could be paying more.  A lot of things aren't looking good as of right now, but hopefully they will get better.

divergent/character

When the book started, she always thought she would just end up being in the class called abnegation, they were the leaders of the city, but were selfless.  She finds out that there is a chance that there are multiple classes to choose from to go into.  In this point in the book, she hasn't changed character, looks or anything.  she is just trying to figure out who she wants to be.  right now she is just a nice person, that is trying to fit into abnegation.  she is working on being selfless and invisible to the community.  She isn't allowed to have any jealousy, she needs to be happy with what she has.  now, she has changed a little because she realized that she isn't very good at these.  She went with the dauntless at the ceremony, so she is probably not very happy with abnegation.  She wants something more exciting.

Poetry

Poetry is one of the coolest forms of writing because it is also an art form. Poetry isnt just a bunch of meaningless words thrown together because they rhyme, sometimes it is really deep stuff that you really need to think about. I really just wanted to show everyone the importance of poetry. Check out this video! It is all about the shortest poem and what counts as poetry.

Divergent/ book recomendation

The book divergent is a great read so far.  I love how in depth everything is, the characters are very detailed, and the book is easy to understand.  The author did a great job on character development.  I can feel the stress and pain in her thoughts and voice.  I understand her traits, likes and dislikes.  Many cool things are presented in the book, like factions, and different classes.  Her brother is a big part in the book so far.  I feel like he will be a huge contribution to the overall mood, and theme of the book.  He shows the contrast and similarities of the main character.  All that I can say is that I have not read very much of the book, but I am super hooked, I love the book, I just wish i could read it more. Please read this book, you will not regret it!

divergent/character

When the book started, she always thought she would just end up being in the class called abnegation, they were the leaders of the city, but were selfless.  She finds out that there is a chance that there are multiple classes to choose from to go into.  She is having a self to self conflict right now, and a little bit of a self to community.  First with the self to community, she has to make a decision that will change her life forever.  The community makes her do that. If she makes the choice to go to abnegation then her parents would be happy and she might not be, but if she goes to dauntless (the defenders of the city) she might be happier but her parents would be so sad.  Her self to self problem is her choosing this class.  Am I going to choose dauntless or abnegation? This has been eating at her all day. Should I be selfless and go to abnegation? Should I be rambunctious and go to dauntless?  If it is eating at her this much then she should go to abnegation, because it is a selfless act to do something not for yourself but for your family instead.

divergent/ expectations

I am always saying that I hate reading, but really it is just when it is a bad book. I have found out that when I love a book, I constantly read it.  with divergent I hope it has these things put into it, if it does, it will definitely get me hooked quick.  the first thing is good character development.  I hate it when a story is so great, but you know almost nothing about the character you have been reading about.  the next thing is an action scene in it somewhere. I am just not far enough along to get hooked yet!

divergent/ reading skills

I have just started reading divergent, so far it is very interesting. I don't understand some of the things in it though, like the different factions. what is the difference between them? I now know that they have specific traits as a faction which you need to live by. also, when they are sixteen, they do this testing thing, where they find out where they would fit best. now what I don't understand is the fact that after they take this testing, they get to decide what faction to be in anyway. the character in this book has turned out not to fit into a faction. my guess is that she will have to go through more trials and maybe some pain, and other crazy stuff just so they can try to fit her in a group. maybe a something like hunger games. in a way in divergent she has been "selected" sort of by herself. in the hunger games she was selected to be in the Hunger Games. it sounds kind of alike. I can kind of connect with this character because at times I feel kind of different from everyone, but at the same time I feel like I love it so much. I see everything going on and I feel like a belong, just as she does. well that's all I have for you today. thank you for reading!

Shadow and bone/Character development

Alina is introduced to the readers as a scared little orphan that only talks to her friend named Mal. They lived at the orphanage together. As the book went on, she became a soldier in the first army. She was one of the many in the army that had to go into the fold. The only reason that she was OK emotionally to go in there, was because she had her best friend with her, Mal. She really loved him as a friend, but they had started to drift apart. She found out she had this very unique power that let her summon the suns light. Once that that was discovered she was taken to a castle in a city named Os Alta. This is where she was trained in the arts of magic. This is when she started to really come out as a dynamic character. She started to have feeling for these two guys, but then one of them turned out to be evil. The other one had not seen her for a long time. She constantly worried about what other people would think about her and was scared of failing. She held her kingdom in her hands. Over all, she was a very shy girl that blossomed into a the strongest magic grisha of all.
